Adjourned meeting of special parliamentary committee held

DHAKA, Mar 25, 2026 (BSS)- The adjourned meeting of the first session of the special committee formed by the Jatiya Sangsad was held today at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today.

Committee Chairman Jainal Abedin chaired the meeting. 

Committee members Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam Moni, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, Dr Muhammad Osman Faruk, A M Mahbub Uddin, State Minister for Public Administration Md. Abdul Bari, Muhammad Nawshad Zamir, State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin, Md Mujibur Rahman, Md Rafiqul Islam Khan, and G M Nazrul Islam were present.

The meeting discussed in detail a wide range of the ordinances promulgated by the interim government. 

The ordinances are- Bangladesh Building Regulatory Authority Ordinance, 2026; Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha Ordinance, 2026; Barishal Development Authority (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026; Mymensingh Development Authority (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026; Rangpur Development Authority (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026; Cumilla Development Authority Ordinance, 2026; Narayanganj Development Authority Ordinance, 2026; National Freedom Fighters Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; July Mass Uprising Martyrs' Families and Injured Students-Citizens Welfare and Rehabilitation Ordinance, 2025, Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; Right to Information (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026; The Bangladesh Haor and Wetland Conservation Ordinance, 2026; International Crimes (Tribunals) (Amendment) Ordinances of 2024 and 2025, including second and third amendments; Bangladesh Law Officers (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024; Supreme Court Judges Appointment Ordinance, 2025; Supreme Court Secretariat Ordinances of 2025 and 2026; Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Ordinances, including second amendment of 2025; Commercial Courts Ordinance, 2026; Registration (Amendment) Ordinance of 2026; Civil Courts (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; National Human Rights Commission Ordinances including amendments; Representation of the People (Amendment) Ordinances of 2025; Referendum Ordinance, 2025; Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat (Interim Special Provisions) Ordinance, 2024; amendments to various university laws, including Gazipur Digital University (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 and Dhaka Central University Ordinance, 2026; Rural Development Academy Ordinances including Sheikh Russell, Sheikh Hasina and Bangabandhu Academies; Medical University Amendments including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and others; Human Organ Transplant Ordinance, 2025; Smoking and Tobacco Products Usage (Control) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; Government Audit Ordinance, 2025; Financial and Revenue-related Ordinances including VAT and Supplementary duty Amendments, Customs and Income Tax amendments; Bangladesh Bank (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024; Bank Resolution Ordinance, 2025; Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026; Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024; Ordinance repealing Special Provisions for Quick Enhancement of Power and Energy Supply, 2024; Bangladesh Gas (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026; Public Procurement (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026; Cyber Security Ordinances of 2025, including amendments; National Data Management Ordinance, 2025; and Personal Data Protection Ordinances of 2025 and 2026 and others.

The committee decided to examine the necessity and relevance of the ordinances and place a report before the Jatiya Sangsad at the earliest.

Secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Kaniz Mowla, Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, and secretaries of different ministries concerned, among other officials, were present.
