DHAKA, Mar 6, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in a phone conversation today discussed implications of military escalation for regional security and stability in view of the ongoing war between Israel-US and Iran.
"UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a one-on-one telephone conversation on Thursday afternoon," Prime Minister's Press Secretary Saleh Shibly told BSS tonight.
During the conversation, he said, on behalf of Bangladesh, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expressed solidarity with the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries while the UAE President thanked the Bangladesh Prime Minister for the call and his kind concern.
The premier also expressed sincere thanks to the UAE President and his country for taking care of Bangladeshi people in the UAE, Shibly said.
He also said that Tarique Rahman expressed deep gratitude for help and support from Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the UAE Ambassador and officials at the Embassy in Dhaka.
Shibly said, during the conversation, Tarique Rahman invited Mohamed bin Zayed to visit Bangladesh while the UAE President accepted the invitation.
The UAE President sincerely thanked Bangladesh Prime Minister for the call and for standing by his country.
The press secretary said that both sides underscored the need for an immediate halt to military escalation to avoid widening the conflict in the region and address its serious implications for regional and global security.
They also affirmed the importance of dialogue and diplomatic means in addressing issues and finding a peaceful solution, Shibly added.
