DHAKA, Mar 4, 2026 (BSS) - Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said technical and vocational education must be made modernised and market-oriented aiming to transform the country's large number of population into skilled human resources.

He made the remarks while addressing a view-exchange meeting with the officers and employees of the Directorate of Technical Education at its meeting room here this morning.

Technical and Madrasah Education Division Secretary Muhammad Rafiqul Islam presided over the meeting.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr Milon said developing skilled human resources is a big responsibility for the nearly 18 crore people of Bangladesh.

If the manpower is properly transformed into skilled ones, it will become the main driving force for the country's economic and social development, he said.

The education minister put emphasis on strengthening Public-Private Partnership (PPP), creating strong bridge between industry and academia, and modernising curriculum and syllabus.
He said various indicators and KPIs of technical education have been initially reviewed.

“Necessary reform activities will be taken soon. Especially in technical, vocational and polytechnic educational institutions, emphasis should be given to practical and vocational training instead of additional theoretical education,” he said.

Milon asked the officials concerned to work with enthusiasm and speed in their respective departments and institutions to this end.

About the international labour market, the minister said the opportunities for sending skilled manpower abroad will be further expanded by strengthening coordination with the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and other relevant stakeholders.

He said the population is lessening in many countries of the developed world, which has created a big opportunity for Bangladesh.

“If we create skilled manpower, Bangladesh will be established as a strong human resource-rich country in the world,” Milon said.

Stating that the technical education sector will play an important role in implementing the goal of employment creation announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the minister called upon all to work collectively and with sincerity and dedication to this end.
