DHAKA, Mar 2, 2026 (BSS) - The government today confirmed that two Bangladeshi nationals were killed and seven others injured in separate missile and drone attacks in different parts of the Middle East, expressing deep concern over the escalating situation.

Saleh Ahmed of Baralekha, Sylhet, was killed in Ajman, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), after being struck by debris resulting from an aerial attack on a civilian installation, said a foreign ministry's press release here.

The Bangladesh Embassy in the UAE is in close contact with local authorities and is extending assistance to repatriate the mortal remains once commercial flights resume, it added.

"In Bahrain, the foreign ministry said, one Bangladeshi national was killed and three others injured," the release said, adding that the Bangladesh Mission in Manama is coordinating with local authorities.

In Kuwait, four Bangladeshis-- Aminul Islam of Nabinagar, Brahmanbaria; Rabiul Islam of Sathia, Pabna; Masudur Rahman of Begumganj, Noakhali; and Dulal Miah of Chandina, Cumilla-- sustained injuries in a drone attack near a civilian airport.

They have received treatment and are reported to be in stable condition. The Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait is maintaining regular contact, and the Ambassador personally visited them in hospital.

Separately, the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation vessel Banglar Joyjatra remains stranded at Jebel Ali Port in the UAE.

All crew members are safe, and the Embassy is in close communication with the captain, said the foreign ministry.

The foreign ministry said that ensuring the safety and security of more than six million Bangladeshis living in the Middle East remains the government's top priority.

"Our Embassies in concerned countries have been asked to issue appropriate advisories for our nationals to remain vigilant and strictly follow the guidance issued by the respective host governments," read the release.

The Bangladesh government reiterated its deep concern over the escalating situation in the Middle East and continues to monitor developments closely, it added.
