DHAKA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS) - The government has formed a cabinet committee with Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed as its convener to monitor, review and improve the overall law and order situation.
In this regard, the cabinet division issued a gazette notification today.
According to the notification, the members of the committee are Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare Minister Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain, Industries, Textiles and Jute, and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Food, Fisheries and Livestock, and Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit, State Minister for Land Barrister Kayser Kamal, State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin and the ministers concerned.
Supporting officials include cabinet secretary, prime minister's principal secretary, home affairs secretary, secretaries of the relevant ministries and divisions, principal staff officer of the Armed Forces Division, Chief of General Staff at Army Headquarters, Inspector General of Police, director general of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), director general of Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), director general of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), director general of National Security Intelligence (NSI), director general of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, director general of the Department of Narcotics Control and Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
The notification further stated the committee will monitor and review the overall law and order situation and, if any deterioration occurs, identify the causes and make recommendations to address them.
It will also advise relevant ministries and agencies on measures to prevent hartals, blockades, strikes, and other incidents that disrupt public life, and to mitigate the suffering caused by such events.
The Ministry of Home Affairs will provide secretarial support to the committee. The notification will take immediate effect, and the previous notification dated August 20, 2024, has been revoked.
