SIRAJGANJ, Jan 31, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today called upon the countrymen to vote for ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ in the parliamentary election scheduled to be held on February 12 giving answer against fascists.
“ In the past 16/17 years, the rights of the people have been snatched away during the fascists regime . . . you (the people) have to vote for Sheaf of Paddy’ for restoring rights. It will be befitting reply against autocracy,” he made the call at an election rally held at the BSCIC Industrial Park in the district this afternoon.
The programmne began with Quran recitation at 3:00 pm. He arrived in Sirajganj from Bogura by road at 3:30 pm. At that time, his wife Zubaida Rahman was present on the stage with him.
The BNP Chairman said, "We want to live together in peace with people of all religions. We are the Bangladeshi … it is our main identity. The people of all faiths are equal to us.”

Caste and creed are not paramount to us. The key identity is that they are Bangladeshi.
He said that they want to value people as human beings. “That is why, if we want establish people's rule in the country. If we can establish a government of the people, we would be able to solve the problems exist now in the country.”
Tarique Rahman introduced the candidates from Sirajganj and Pabna, namely Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Amirul Islam Khan Alim, M Akbar Ali, M A Muhit, Ainul Haque, Selim Reza, Habibur Rahman Habib, Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Hasan Jafir Tuhin, Selim Reza Habib, and VP Shamsul Islam and called for voting for the Sheaf of Paddy.
Seeking cooperation to build the country, the BNP Chairman said, "Today, there is much work to be done here, including in Sirajganj and Pabna. There is a lot of work to be done … if these works are done, fate of the people in this region will be changed.
The BNP Chairman promised to solve the unemployment problem by establishing new industrial parks across the country including Sirajganj and Pabna.
“If voted to power, we will build agriculture-based industries in this region, to revive the handloom industry and create an international market for handloom products, and to establish vocational institutes in this region,” he added.
He further said that if the BNP comes to state power with people's votes in the upcoming election, the party will assist women and farmers in the country through ' Family Card' and 'Agriculture Card'.
The rally was presided over by District President Rumana Mahmud and conducted by General Secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu.
Party Standing Committee Member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Central Co-organizing Secretary Obaidur Rahman Chanda, Swechhasebak Dal's Organizing Secretary Nazmul Hasan, along with the Sheaf of Paddy candidates from Sirajganj and Pabna spoke in the event.
During the two-day campaign in the northern region, Tarique Rahman held four election rallies in Rajshahi, Naogaon, Bogura, and Rangpur.
