DHAKA, Dec 31, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 27 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across the capital to strengthen security surrounding the state funeral, burial, and public tributes of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
According to BGB press release, a sufficient number of personnel have been stationed at several key locations in Dhaka to maintain law and order during the funeral ceremony.
The deployment covers strategic points including Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, Evercare Hospital, Zia Udyan, and surrounding areas.
Authorities said the security measures aim to ensure smooth traffic movement, facilitate public gatherings, and prevent any untoward incidents.
Law enforcement agencies remain on high alert, with overall security tightened in and around the designated venues.
Begum Khaleda Zia passed away on Tuesday morning at Evercare Hospital.
Her Namaz-e-Janaza is scheduled to be held at Manik Mia Avenue at 2:00 pm today.
Following the funeral prayers, she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, at Zia Udyan here.
