In a public notice issued on Tuesday night, the DMP said the measures will come into effect from 7:00 am on Wednesday.
According to the notice, traffic will be completely closed on several key roads, including Rapa Plaza to Ganobhaban Crossing, Farmgate to Manik Mia Avenue West End/Aarong, Bijoy Sarani Crossing to Lake Road via Ganobhaban Crossing, and Urojahaj Crossing to Khezur Bagan Crossing to Farmgate Police Box.
The Indira Road ramp to Farmgate on the elevated expressway will also remain closed, with motorists advised to use the FDC ramp instead.
The DMP has advised city residents to avoid Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue as much as possible, as only limited traffic will be allowed from Sonargaon Intersection to Farmgate/Bijoy Sarani.
To reduce congestion, alternative routes have been suggested.
Vehicles travelling from Banani, Mohakhali, Gulshan, or Airport Road toward Ramna, Shahbagh, Motijheel, Paltan, and Gulistan are advised to use the road in front of Mohakhali Bus Terminal and the Moghbazar Flyover.
Vehicles from Mirpur to Dhanmondi and Mohammadpur should avoid Manik Mia Avenue and use the Mirpur–Technical–Shyamoli Ring Road.
Those travelling from Mirpur to Ramna and Motijheel are requested to follow routes via Shyamoli, Agargaon Crossing, Fakruddin Road (Bir Uttam Major General Azizur Rahman Road), Jahangir Gate, Mohakhali, Tejgaon, and Moghbazar Flyover.
Limited traffic will be allowed from the Chief Adviser’s Office Crossing southwards on Bijoy Sarani/Farmgate, and from Panthapath Crossing towards Sonargaon Hotel Crossing.
Vehicles may also be diverted from Dhanmondi Road No. 32 and, if necessary, Science Lab Crossing.
For parking, metropolitan vehicles have been instructed to use the Old Trade Fair Grounds in Agargaon.
Passenger buses and vehicles arriving from outside Dhaka may park in the Motijheel commercial area, Shahbagh police station area, Boubazar/Gorur Hat area of Uttara Sector 17, and the 300-feet service road of the Purbachal Expressway.
The DMP has requested the cooperation of city residents to follow traffic instructions and use alternative routes to minimize inconvenience during the funeral procession.
