DHAKA, Dec 27, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will visit the Election Commission (EC) at Agargaon in the capital this afternoon to register as a voter.
After paying homage at the grave of Shaheed Osman Hadi near Dhaka University, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit the EC.
EC sources said he will complete the necessary formalities for voter registration and take part in the process of obtaining his National Identity Card (NID).
Ahead of his arrival, foolproof security measures have been taken in and around the EC and the Election Training Institute.
Members of the Bangladesh Army, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Ansar have been deployed in and around the EC building and the training institute, while police have been stationed outside the premises.
Earlier, Tarique Rahman returned home on Thursday morning after a 17-year exile in the United Kingdom (UK).
The Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying him first landed at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet before arriving at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11:40 am.
