DHAKA, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has approved the appointment of Nuzhat Anwar as the new managing director of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
After completion of the required internal procedures, she will assume charge, according to a DSE press release issued today.
Anwar is a seasoned professional with more than two decades of experience in financial markets, banking and development finance.
Prior to her appointment, she served at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, where she held several senior leadership roles across Africa and South Asia.
Her responsibilities at the IFC included serving as resident representative for Liberia and Sierra Leone, senior country officer covering Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal, and acting cluster manager during the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent transition period.
Earlier, she worked as an IFC country officer in Botswana and Namibia, playing a key role in establishing IFC operations in Gaborone and advancing sustainable investment programmes. Under her leadership, IFC's first investment in Botswana was successfully implemented.
