DHAKA, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is currently receiving advanced medical care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Evercare Hospital in the city, according to her personal physician and BNP standing committee member Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.

"Begum Zia is undergoing treatment in the ICU, where the highest level of care has been ensured. She is receiving all necessary medical support for a critically ill patient," Dr. Zahid told reporters during a press briefing in front of the hospital on Wednesday evening.

He urged the public not to be misled by rumors regarding her condition. "Khaleda Zia is under treatment. I sincerely request everyone not to pay attention to any rumors about her," he said.

When asked for further details about her latest condition, Dr. Zahid declined to provide specifics, citing medical ethics. "She is a patient. She has certain rights and privileges. As a doctor, I am not permitted by medical science to disclose everything publicly, even if I want to."

"She is regularly receiving treatment and is genuinely responding to it," he said.
