Students to receive textbooks at beginning of January: Bidhan

BHOLA, Nov 29, 2025 (BSS) - Primary and Mass Education Adviser Prof. Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar today said that students will receive their textbooks at the very beginning of next January.

"Many textbooks have already been dispatched to the district level and we have undertaken comprehensive initiatives to enhance the quality of primary education," he told journalists.

Dr. Bidhan made the remarks after attending a seminar at the Deputy Commissioner's (DC) office as the chief guest. 

The seminar, titled "Strategy for Completion of Infrastructure Construction Activities under PEDP-4 and the Demand-Based Development Project for Government Primary Schools," was organized jointly by the Bhola district administration and the Primary and Mass Education Department.

"The teachers are the backbone of primary education. They deliver the core teaching and we have always worked to improve their conditions," Dr. Bidhan said, adding that the status of headmasters has been upgraded to the 10th grade and efforts are underway to elevate assistant teachers to the 11th grade.

He also noted that instructions have been issued to repair primary schools that will serve as polling centers in the upcoming 13th national election.

Later, Dr. Bidhan attended a discussion at Bhola Zila Parishad auditorium as the chief guest on "The Role of Stakeholders in Improving the Quality of Primary Education." 

The meeting was presided over by DC Bhola Dr. Shamim Rahman, while Additional Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education Md. Atikur Rahman joined as special guest.

Director Planning and Development of the directorate Mirajul Islam Ukil, District Primary Education Officer Bhola Azharul Haque Azad and senior officials of the Bhola district administration were also present at the event.
