DHAKA, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS) - Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul today said that all reforms and changes in the country have been achieved through legal processes.
 
"In cases of family disputes, people no longer need to physically go to court as free services are now available through legal aid. Under the new system, three judges have been involved in place of one, making the process more efficient," he said.
 
The law adviser made the remarks at the inauguration of the e-Family Court system, held at the Jagannath-Sohel Memorial Auditorium of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court building.
 
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan; Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology; members of the judiciary, lawyers, and officials concerned attended the event.
 
Dr Asif Nazrul said reforms are essential but must be grounded in practical realities. "We have not been able to do much, but we hope that even after a new government takes office, these initiatives will continue. Otherwise, they will fade away," he added.
 
He further said that excessive attempts at reform must not weaken the state's structural foundation, emphasizing that any process must be implemented gradually to be effective.
 
Speaking about the Ministry of Law's ongoing reforms, the adviser said the ministry has implemented 21 reforms so far. However, he stressed that these reforms will not be sustainable unless lawyers and all relevant stakeholders remain engaged and ensure continuity.
 
Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said the new system would significantly advance the country's transition toward a paperless judiciary. "As the environment adviser, this gives me great satisfaction. I thank the lawyers for accepting the process. With your cooperation, this initiative can be fully implemented," she said.
 
Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb said the digital initiative would help legal professionals deliver faster and more effective services.
 
Supreme Court Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddique said the e-Family Court would greatly advance the justice system toward a paperless structure.
 
Organizers said the introduction of the e-Family Court system would help resolve longstanding issues such as lengthy procedures, high costs, travel-related difficulties, paper-based documentation, delays and overcrowding in courts.

The new digital service will also offer faster online processing, minimal cost, access to services from home, digital documents, round-the-clock registration seven days a week, and convenient online scheduling.
