BARISHAL, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS)- Home Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said the law and order in the country is satisfactory.

“The law and order is not excellent, but not very bad. It’s satisfactory,” he told journalists after a meeting of views exchange with the field level officer of the law enforcement agencies at Barishal district Police Lines here.

The Home Adviser said law enforcement agencies at filed level are ready to hold the forthcoming parliamentary election peacefully and in a free, fair and festive manner.

However, Jahangir Alam opined that holding a fair election not only depends on the law enforcement agencies, but also on the role of Election Commission and political parties.

“None can disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the election if the people become election oriented,” he said.

Replying to a question about the security measures ahead of the ICT verdict against Sheikh Hasina tomorrow, the Home Adviser said, all law enforcement agencies are ready to check any untoward incident.

About the clashes between transport workers and students over bus fare in Barishal, the Home Adviser said they will solve the issue peacefully through talks.

Law enforcement agencies were asked to remain alert on such issues, he said.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Monjur Morshed Alam, Barishal Metropolitan Police Commission Shafiqul Islam and police super Sharif Uddin were present, among others.
