Bangladesh football team, stranded nationals flown home from Kathmandu

DHAKA, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu has facilitated the safe return of the national football team and stranded Bangladeshi nationals from Nepal amid the ongoing travel disruption.
 
The national football team departed Kathmandu this afternoon on a special C-130 aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force, arranged in coordination with the Office of the Chief Adviser, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Armed Forces Division and Bangladesh Football Federation. 

The flight took off from Tribhuvan International Airport at 14:40 hrs (local time), carrying the players along with accompanying officials, said Bangladesh embassy in Kathmandu. 
 
The Embassy expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal, Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Tribhuvan International Airport authority and the Nepal Army for providing clearance and security support at a short notice.
 
In addition, the Embassy confirmed that, with the cooperation of Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated an additional flight today to Dhaka to repatriate passengers stranded since September 9-10. 

Embassy officials worked intensively to locate and assist Bangladeshis who had been stranded at various points in Kathmandu Valley over the past two days.
 
According to the Embassy, more than 600 phone calls were received from expatriates and stranded citizens in recent days seeking assistance.

The Embassy said it will continue to extend full support to ensure the safety and welfare of Bangladeshi nationals in Nepal.
