Committee formed to review rationality of BSc, diploma engineers' demands

DHAKA, Aug 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Cabinet Division today formed an eight-member high-powered committee to examine the rationality of professional demands of BSc degree and diploma holders in the engineering sector.

The committee has been tasked with reviewing the demands and submitting a report with recommendations within one month. 

A gazette notification issued in this connection stated that it will take effect immediately.

Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and Ministry of Railways, has been appointed as the committee chairman.

The seven other members include: Adilur Rahman Khan, Adviser to the Ministry of Industries and Ministry of Housing and Public Works; Prof Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, Adviser to the Ministry of Education; Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources; Engineer Mohammad Rezaul Islam, President, Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh; Engineer Md. Kabir Hossain, President, Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh; Prof Dr. Engineer Tanvir Manzur, Chairman, Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education, Bangladesh and Kazi Muhammad Mozammel Haque, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration (member secretary of the committee).

According to the notification, the committee's terms of reference are to examine the reasonableness of the professional demands of BSc degree and diploma holders in engineering and prepare a report with recommendations. 

The committee may also co-opt additional members if needed. The Ministry of Public Administration will provide secretarial support to the committee.
