DHAKA, Aug 14, 2025 (BSS) - The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today ordered authorities concerned to provide protection to one prosecution witness (PW), who has testified in the Chankharpul crimes against humanity case.
The three-member panel of the ICT-1 led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder passed the order, allowing a prosecution plea in this connection.
The tribunal also formed a three-member probe committee over the protection of the witness.
"The witness testified two days ago in the Chankharpul crimes against humanity case. After the testimony, some people where the witness works are carrying out activities posing threats to the witness's security. They are bringing out processions against the witness and also hanging banners," said prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim.
The prosecutor said they filed the plea in this connection with video footage and photographs of activities against the witness.
"The tribunal held a hearing in this connection and also talked to the witness. The tribunal also ordered the officer-in-charge of the local police station and head of the office, where the witness works, to ensure safety. It also ordered to remove all the derogatory posters or banners against the witness," he added.
