DHAKA, Aug 4, 2025 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam today said they are liable to the dreams and sacrifices of July mass uprising martyrs and injured.
“It is our duty to present that memory to the nation. We are trying to build the Bangladesh as per their aspirations,” he told the inaugural ceremony of the Publication Festival 2025, organized by the Department of Films and Publications (DFP) at Tathya Bhaban here.
Mahfuj said multi-dimensional initiatives have been taken at the government level to publish books and make films focusing on the July mass uprising.
Through this initiative, documentaries, analytical publications and creative work are being done to present the historical event to the new generation, he said.
Expressing hope that quality publications and film production will be possible with the joint efforts of all government institutions concerned, he said, through this initiative, the July uprising will be remembered forever and the sacrifice of the martyrs will come alive for the new generation.
Mahfuj said the work of producing films and publishing research-based books on the July uprising has started from the DFP's own budget and the special allocation of the current fiscal year.
The second volume of the book titled “Graffitite Bangladesh” has already been published and the work of publishing a few more books is underway.
“Although the books published so far are mainly descriptive, this time we will present the issues analytically,” he said.
A review publication will be brought out on the progress of the last one year, fulfillment of dreams and future plans, he added.
The information adviser said that government institutions including PIB, PID, BTV and Bangladesh Betar are actively working to collect, document and disseminate the history of the July uprising.
Besides, important work has also been done in this regard by private initiatives.
DFP Director General (DG) Khaleda Begum chaired the event while Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana, Principal Information Officer Md. Nizamul Kabir, Mass Communication Department DG Faizul Haque, PIB DG Faruk Wasif, Bangladesh Film Archive DG Md. Abdul Jalil and National Institute of Mass Communication Muhammad Hiruzzaman were present on the occasion.
Later, the adviser visited various stalls of the publication festival.
