DHAKA, June 13, 2025 (BSS) - People who had traveled to their villages to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with their loved ones are now returning to Dhaka to rejoin their workplaces.

Large crowds of returnees have been observed at major entry points to the capital, particularly in the Jatrabari, Kamalapur, Gabtoli and Sayedabad areas.

Despite the pressure and the increasing number of vehicles, there was no sign of suffering anywhere. There are no other traffic jams on the roads in Dhaka city.

Passenger-filled buses from different parts of the country have been arriving one after another on the highways and roads surrounding Jatrabari and Sayedabad. After disembarking, passengers continue their journeys home using local buses, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, battery-powered rickshaws, or rented motorcycles.

The Jatrabari-Sayedabad area is now bustling with people carrying luggage, bags, and sacks-returning from their hometowns to resume work. Many were also seen carrying meat from the sacrificial animals slaughtered during the Holy Eid.

Visiting different spots in the city, it can be seen that buses are dropping passengers coming from different areas at various bus stops in the Kamalapur and Jatrabari areas. Different big companies, including Shyamoli, Green Line, Sohag, Star Line, Lal Sabuj, Ena and Econo are seen in large numbers.

Many of the people who are coming to Dhaka during this time had collected tickets in advance.

Eid-ul-Azha, one of the most significant religious festivals for Muslims, was celebrated across the country last Saturday (June 7). On this occasion, government employees have been granted an extended 10-day holiday.

The Eid vacation, which began on June 5, will continue until June 14 for government officials and employees.
