DHAKA, May 8, 2025 (BSS) - The National Consensus Commission today held a dialogue with the Bhasani Anusari Parishad at the LD Hall of the Jatiya Sangsad.

Vice Chairman of the commission, Professor Dr Ali Riaz, presided over the discussion, while commission members - Justice Md Emdadul Haque, Dr Badiul Alam Majumder, Safar Raj Hossain, Dr Iftekharuzzaman, and Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Monir Haider - were present.

In addition, Chairman of the Bhasani Anusari Parishad Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, its Secretary General Dr Abu Yusuf Selim, and Presidium Members Md Abdul Kader and Parvin Naser Khan, among others, also attended the discussion.

At the outset, Professor Riaz stated that all political forces opposing 16 years of fascist rule seek a democratic Bangladesh where an independent judiciary will protect civil rights and ensure a responsible system of governance.

He said, "We must initiate a process of change. We must be united against fascism. We must create a state system where future generations can consider Bangladesh an ideal place through structural changes."

The National Consensus Commission, headed by Interim Government Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, was formed to build national consensus on reforms. The commission officially began its work on February 15.

It has identified crucial recommendations from five reform commissions - the Constitution Reform Commission, the Public Administration Reform Commission, the Electoral System Reform Commission, the Judiciary Reform Commission, and the ACC Reform Commission - to seek input from political parties.
