'Bangabandhu-2' satellite to be launched within stipulated time: Jabbar

  DHAKA, Oct 8, 2021 (BSS)- Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa

Jabbar said 'Bangabandhu-2', second communication satellite of the country,
will be launched within the stipulated time.

   "The Posts and Telecommunications Division has started to implement the
three promises which made in the election manifesto like launching of
Bangabandhu Satellite-2 in space, launching of 5G networks and establishing
the connection of the third submarine cable. These will be completed within
the stipulated time," he said.

   The minister said these while speaking at a discussion organised by
Bangladesh Satellite Company Ltd (BSCL) at a city hotel last night to mark
the second anniversary of the launch of private satellite TV channels through
Bangabandhu Satellite-1, first communication satellite of the country.

   "With 'Bangabandhu-I', Bangladesh became the 57th country to launch
geostationary communication satellite into the orbit," he said, adding that
the government is providing uninterrupted satellite services to the country
in the last two years without any flaws.

   Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud spoke as the chief
guest at the meeting while Principal Secretary to the Hon'ble Prime Minister
Dr Ahmad Kaikaus addressed it as special guest.

   Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Md Afzal Hossain and
Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO) President Anjan Chowdhury
also spoke, among others.

   BSCL Chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmud presided over the programme.
