Lions Club International chief calls on President

DHAKA, Dec 17, 2023 (BSS) - A delegation led by International President of Lions Club International Dr Patti Hill today paid a courtesy call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban here.

The President was apprised by the Lions Club's delegation of its activities in Bangladesh, President Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS after the meeting.

Appreciating the socio-economic development of Bangladesh, Patti Hill said Bangladesh's ongoing development will be accelerated if the youths' potential can be turned into a skilled manpower.

President Shahabuddin lauded the positive role of Lions Club in providing cooperation in various fields, including natural disasters, disaster management, health and education in Bangladesh.

The overall activities of the Lions Club would continue in the days to come for the welfare of the people of the country, the Head of State hoped.

Lions Clubs International is an international service organization established in 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, by Melvin Jones.

 The organization is currently headquartered in Oak Brook, IL. As of January 2020, it had over 46,000 local clubs and more than 1.4 million members (including the youth wing Leo) in more than 200 countries and geographic areas around the world.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Lions' 51st ISAME (India, South Asia, Africa and Middle East) Forum Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed and secretaries of the President's office were present.
