DHAKA, Sept 1, 2021 (BSS) - Awami League General Secretary Obaidul
Quader today said the 43-year history of the BNP is the history of
falsehood and conspiracy hatching against the country.

  He came up with the remark while addressing a press conference on
contemporary issues at his official residence in the capital.

  Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, claimed that
the ruling Awami League never disputed BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, but
Zia established himself as a villain of history through his ambitious
and reckless works.

  During his lifetime, Zia never claimed himself as the proclaimer of
the country's independence, but the BNP leaders are trying to
establish him as the proclaimer of the independence, he said.

  The AL general secretary said that in making Zia a hero of history,
the BNP leaders not only made him controversial, but also put him on
the dock of the history.

  All the achievements of this nation have come through the Awami
League, which led the independence and holds the spirit of
independence, he added.

  About the BNP's claim that the independence movement started with
the declaration of Zia, Quader said: "This is the latest invention of
the BNP leaders and a new form of distortion of history."

  Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had prepared
the nation for the liberation war step by step but the ill-attempt of
the BNP leaders to establish Zia next to Bangabandhu is equal to
absolute audacity, he said.

  The AL general secretary said the name of such a person, who killed
democracy and was a beneficiary of killing, cannot get a place next to
Bangabandhu, a role model of independence and struggle and a great
hero.
