Outgoing Chief Justice pays courtesy call on President

DHAKA, Sept 21, 2023 - (BSS) - President Mohammed Shahabuddin today hoped that country's judiciary would continue its efforts to ensure justice for the litigants.


He expressed the hope when outgoing Chief Justice (CJ) Hasan Foez Siddique paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here.

The President thanked the Chief Justice for bringing dynamism in the judiciary under his leadership and introducing 'digital technology' in the judicial process, President's Press Secretary Md. Joynal Abedin told BSS after the meeting.

The Head of State expressed satisfaction with the increased rate of case disposal and thanked the Chief Justice for discharging his duties in efficient and successful manner.


The President also appreciated the recruitment process in the judicial service during his (CJ) tenure as the Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission.


Meanwhile, during the meeting, the CJ also expressed his gratefulness to the President for providing all sorts of cooperation in discharging his duties in the SC.


The President was apprised by the CJ of the overall activities, including the progress of the case disposal along with all the activities of the Appellate Division, High Court Division and lower court proceedings and infrastructural development of Bangladesh SC.

The chief justice informed that the lower court cases' disposal rate in many cases has been achieved about cent percent while the disposal rate of those in the Appellate Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court has also increased significantly.


He also thanked the government for the development of judiciary and providing cooperation in judicial activities.


President's Office Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salah Uddin Islam, Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin, and Secretary (Attachment) Md Wahidul Islam Khan were present there.
