Police ready to face any challenge: IGP

TUNGIPARA, Sept 4, 2023 (BSS)-Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun today said Bangladesh Police is ready to face any challenge in the coming days.

“If anyone tries to deteriorate law and order situation ahead of the upcoming national elections, then he will be dealt with iron hands,” he stated after paying rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his mausoleum here.

Immediate after getting the Senior Secretary status, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun went to Tungipara to pay tributes to Bangabandhu this noon.

After laying the wreath, he stood in solemn silence for some times as a mark of profound respect to the memory of the Father of the Nation.

The IGP offered Doa seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and other martyrs who had to embrace martyrdom on the fateful night on August 15, 1975.

A special prayer was also offered praying for long life of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The IGP also sought peace of all souls who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War in 1971.

He also signed the visitors' book at the Tungipara Mausoleum Complex.

The IGP said that Bangladesh Police has been successfully performing election duties all the times, adding, “Recently, many city corporation elections were conducted peacefully and in a good manner. Police have sufficient capacity, manpower, training, equipment and logistics to face any attempt to destabilise law and order in the upcoming elections.”

“So, any situation related to deteriorate the law and order will be dealt with iron hands. We are ready to discharge the duty bestowed upon us under the Election Commission,” he added.

Mamun said every member of the police force has been working tirelessly to maintain law and order in the country, adding, “Due to this the law and order situation has improved tremendously and investment friendly environment prevails in the country.”

He said that the law and order situation was improved throughout the country and with this efforts the economic activity and growth is also increasing.

Chief of Special Branch (SB) Md Monirul Islam, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Dhaka range Syed Nurul Islam, DIG Barisal range Jamil Hasan, DIG Khulna range Md Moinul Haque, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mozammel Haque, Police Superintendent (SP) Gopalganj Al-Beli Afifa, Tungipara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Al Mamun, Tungipara Pourasava Mayor Sheikh Tozammel Haque Tutul, Pourasava Awami League President Sheikh Saiful Islam, among others were present.
