President mourns death of ex-religious minister Motiur Rahman

DHAKA, Aug 28, 2023 (BSS) - President Mohammed Shahabuddin today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of former Religious Affairs Minister and valiant Freedom Fighter Principal Motiur Rahman.

In a condolence message, he recalled the contribution of Motiur Rahman to the country's Great Liberation War and promoting different educational activities.

"The death of this Ekushey Award recipient is an irreparable loss to the country . . . The nation will remember him with respect for long," the Head of State said.

The President prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.

Awami League's veteran politician Motiur Rahman passed away due to old-age complications while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mymensingh at 11 pm yesterday at the age of 81.

The valiant freedom fighter is survived by wife, one son and three daughters.
