DHAKA, July 2, 2023 (BSS) - The public and private offices, including banks, insurances and most of the corporate offices, reopened today as four-day vacation for the holy Eid-ul Azha and the weekly holiday ended on Saturday.
But attendance of officials and employees were fewer in number on the first day after the Eid vacation.
Joining respective workplaces, ministers, state ministers, secretaries, officials and employees passed their time through exchanging Eid greetings with one another.
The people who left the capital to celebrate the festival at their village homes with their dear and near ones have started returning to the city. But most of the streets of the capital Dhaka still remain vacant.
Eid-ul-Azha, one of the biggest festivals of the Muslim Ummah, was celebrated across the country on Thursday (June 29) with festivity and religious fervor.
This year, the government officials-employees got five-day holiday at a stretch. The government extended Eid-ul-Azha holidays by a day as it declared June 27 a public holiday through an executive order.
With the holiday of June 27, the government officials-employees enjoyed five-day holiday for Eid-ul-Azha as pre-scheduled holidays were on June 28-30 and July 1 is a Saturday, a weekly holiday.
