Police asked to monitor markets strictly in Ramadan

 

DHAKA, March 14, 2023 (BSS) - Field level police officers have been instructed to monitor strictly markets during the upcoming Ramadan.
 
"Police have been instructed to take legal actions if any abnormal market situation is created in the country during the Ramadan," Additional Inspector General of Police (Addl-IGP) Md Atiqul Islam said while presiding over a virtual meeting on monthly crime review at the police headquarters. 

Islam said the meeting also instructed the authorities concerned to ensure smooth and safe journey of Eid holidaymakers and maintain the law and order ahead of the Eid.

He also directed to remove illegal structures on both sides of highways and take action against unfit vehicles.

All Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Range DIGs and District Superintendents of Police participated in the meeting virtually. 

Among others, DIG Md Haider Ali Khan and concerned officials were present at the police headquarters end.

The meeting discussed the overall crime situation. It emphasised on taking precautionary measures and increasing police activity so that no group can make any kind of conspiracy by exploiting communal issues. 

District and highway police have also been directed to jointly perform duties to prevent all types of extortion to ensure transportation of essential goods during the Ramadan.

Earlier, the government on Monday directed deputy commissioners (DCs) to monitor strictly markets during the upcoming Ramadan.
