Quader condemns idol vandalism at Baliadangi upazila

DHAKA, Feb 6, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today condemned idols vandalism at several temples at Baliadangi upazila in Thakurgaon district

"On behalf of Awami League, I am condemning and protesting the communal attacks that took place in Baliadangi yesterday...I am demanding immediate punishment for those involved in the incidents by bringing them to justice," he said in a statement.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said by carrying out communal attacks on temples at Baliadangi, the extremists and communal evil forces hit Bangladesh's fundamental ideology and values.

He said an identified communal evil quarter carried out the heinous incidents to halt the pace of 'Smart Bangladesh' being established under the leadership of successful leader and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

These incidents are strikes to the spirit of Liberation War, Bangladesh's independence and the Constitution, the AL general secretary said.

Noting that Bangladesh is a liberal and non-communal country where there is no space for communalism and extremism, he said the ill attempts to destroy communal harmony in the country will not succeed as the government is committed to uprooting the communal forces.
