SANGSAD BHABAN, June 11, 2026 (BSS) - The government plans to set up 80 modern daycare centers as part of efforts to promote women's empowerment and ensure a safe childhood for children.

“A total of 20 modern daycare centers will be established in the first phase and additional 60 centers in the next phase,” Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury made the announcement while presenting the budget for fiscal year 2026-2027 in the Jatiya Sangsad this afternoon.

The minister said the daycare centres will enable women to become self-reliant and contribute towards economic development of the county. 

Simultaneously, specific projects have been adopted to ensure social security and proper rehabilitation of returnee female migrant workers, which will play a supportive role in reducing the risks associated with labor migration, he added. 

Besides, the minister further informed that a "Quick Response Team" has been formed to take immediate action against the repression of women and children, thereby reinforcing the integrated support services.
