DHAKA, June 11, 2026 (BSS) - The government has proposed a complete exemption of Value Added Tax (VAT) and Advance Tax at the import stage on pesticides used in agriculture in the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27.

Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury presented the FY2026-27 national budget in the Jatiya Sangsad today. The size of the proposed budget has been set at Taka 9,38,000 crore, making it the largest national budget in the country’s history.

The Finance Minister also proposed to completely waive the 7.5 percent Advance Tax applicable at the import stage on all types of pesticides.
