SANGSAD BHABAN, June 11, 2026 (BSS) - The government has set a target to transform Bangladesh into one of the leading global electronics manufacturing hubs within the next five years through providing appropriate policy support, recognizing the electronics sector as one of the country's fastest-growing and most promising industries.
The initiative is aimed at promoting domestic production of digital devices to support the development of the country's ICT sector, ensure affordable access to technology and expand export opportunities.
While unveiling the maiden national budget for fiscal year 2026-27 at the Jatiya Sangsad of BNP government, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said that following the ready-made garments sector, the electronics industry has emerged as one of the fastest-growing sectors in Bangladesh.
He said the availability of digital devices is critically important for the development of the country's highly potential ICT sector.
The minister said encouraging domestic production would make it possible to provide digital devices to citizens at affordable prices while also enabling exports to foreign markets.
According to the budget speech, appropriate policy formulation for the sector will help transform Bangladesh into one of the leading global electronics manufacturing hubs within the next five years.
