DHAKA, Dec 15, 2025 (BSS) - Due to security reasons, access to the courtrooms of both divisions of the Supreme Court will remain restricted from today for litigants and any unauthorised persons, except lawyers.

A notification signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Mohammad Habibur Rahman Siddiquee stated that the Supreme Court is the highest institution of the country's judiciary and is considered a key institution. Ensuring security of the Chief Justice, judges of both divisions, lawyers engaged in conducting cases, and the Supreme Court premises as a whole is therefore essential.

"It has been observed that some litigants, case-related persons and unauthorised individuals have been entering the courtrooms of the Supreme Court, which is creating obstacles to court security, the peaceful environment, and the conduct of judicial proceedings. This has also been disrupting the security of judges, lawyers, and officers and staff of both divisions of the Supreme Court," it further said.

In this situation, the notification added that, for security reasons, entry into the courtrooms of both divisions of the Supreme Court will remain restricted for litigants and unauthorised persons, except lawyers.

At the same time, carrying any kind of weapons-legal or illegal-deadly weapons, explosives and narcotics, as well as holding any assembly or procession within the Supreme Court premises, has been completely prohibited.

The order will come into effect from today and will remain in force until December 31. Legal action will be taken against anyone found violating this directive. Lawyers, their assistants, officers, staff and litigants have been instructed to remain aware of the matter.
