CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Aug 4, 2025 (BSS) - Chapainawabganj's streets were bustling with processions and slogans demanding the resignation of Sheikh Hasina's government on 4th August.

On that day, students took out protest marches across the district. Many guardians joined them that day.

Five upazila towns including the district town were bustling with their demands. From the morning of Sunday, August 4, processions were seen taking out across the district. The presence of protesters increased as time passed.

The processions turned into a mass after noon. The district and upazila coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement were present at the time.

They kept raising slogans on the streets. The leaders of BNP and its affiliated organisations declared solidarity and their leaders and workers were also seen playing an important role on the streets.

Protest marches were held that day under the banner of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, demanding a one-point demand in protest against the attack on the peaceful movement for quota reform.

After the march, the students participating in the movement took positions at various important points in the district and held protest rallies.

"My brother is in the grave, why is the murderer outside," "Justice, justice, we want justice," "I have given blood, I will give more blood," etc. were also chanted at the protest rally.

Meanwhile, members of the law enforcement agencies were on alert at every intersection that day. However, although the leaders and activists of the Awami League, Chhatra League and its affiliates announced to be on the streets, they were not seen on the ground.

In the August 4 protest march, the students said that they were peacefully protesting demanding quota reform. But the Chhatra League attacked there without any provocation.

Later, on the orders of Hasina, police opened fire to suppress their movement, indiscriminately killing numerous ordinary students and people.

The students participating in the protest also said, "What was the fault of my brother Sayed? What was the fault of Mugdha?"

"For what fault did so many children and innocent people die! Why were they killed so brutally? We want justice for each of these murders and we want the resignation of this fascist government," they added.
