SANGSAD BHABAN, April 7, 2026 (BSS) - The Jatiya Sangsad today passed a good
number of bills, including the Haor and Wetland Conservation Bill, 2026, Code
of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and the International Crimes
(Tribunals) (Amendment) Bill, 2026 aimed at turning the relevant ordinances
released during the interim government into laws.
The ministers concerned placed the bills in the House and then the bills were
piloted to votes. The Members of Parliament passed the bills by voice votes.
The other bills include the Civil Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2026; the
Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2026; Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical
University (Amendment) Bill, 2026, Sheikh Hasina Medical University
(Amendment) Bill, 2026 and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Medical
University, Sylhet (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
The remaining bills passed by the parliament today are the Increase in Supply
of Electricity and Energy (Special Provisions) (Repeal) Bill, 2026; the
Appreciation (Supplement) (Fiscal Year 2024-25) Bill, 2026; the Appreciation
(Fiscal Year 2025-26) Bill, 2026; Bangabandhu Poverty Alleviation and Rural
Development Academy Bill, 2026; Sheikh Russell Rural Development Academy,
Rangpur (Amendment) Bill, 2026; and Commercial Courts Bill, 2026.
Besides, two other bills were placed in the House. The bills are the National
Freedom Fighters Council (Amendment) (Repeal) Bill, 2026 and Smoking and
Tobacco Products Use (Control) (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
Out of the 133 ordinances issued during the interim government, the
parliamentary special committee recommended approval to 98 bills in their
original form and 15 in amended form.
The special committee, formed to review the 133 ordinances issued during the
interim government's tenure, placed its report in the House on April 2 last.
