DHAKA, March 29, 2026 (BSS) – Lawmakers today said the present government is working for the real development of the people while the previous fascist government resorted to corruption in the name of development.
The present government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman who arrived in the country for implementing his plan, will carry out development activities for the overall development of the people in real sense.
On the other hand, the previous fascist government has looted thousands of crores in the name of development through depriving the common people of the country.
The lawmakers made the remarks while participating in a discussion for the second day on the thank-giving motion on the President’s address in the parliament.
The first session of the 13th parliament began on March 12 with President Mohammed Shahabuddin delivering his address.
The Business Advisory Committee later fixed 50 hours for discussion on the speech.
Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam moved the motion of thanks on the President’s address, which was seconded by Whip Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu.
Taking part in the discussion, Khondoker Mohammad Abu Ashfaque MP of Dhaka-1 said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has a plan to distribute family card as the government already has distributed 37,000 family cards according to the plan and people across the country will be brought under the purview of the facility in phases.
Even the allowances also have been distributed for Imams and ‘farmer card’ will be distributed from the next month, said the lawmaker.
Chattogram -10 constituency lawmaker Sayeed Al Noman said former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia had announced Chattogram as the commercial capital and today an opportunity has come to implement it under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Recalling the party activists and the July warriors who had sacrificed their lives during the struggle in the last 17 years, the lawmaker said the new Bangladesh has come due to their sacrifice and he prayed for the eternal peace of their departed souls.
National Citizen Party (NCP) lawmaker Abdul Hannan Masud of Noakhali-6, ruling BNP lawmakers M Abdul Aziz of Natore-4 and Sylhet-3 lawmaker M Abdul Maleque also participated in the discussion.
