SANGSAD BHABAN, March 29, 2026 (BSS) - Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat
Husain today said in parliament that there was looting in the health sector
during the previous fascist government.
"There is no fund for developmental work in the health sector. There is not
enough money to buy gauzes, bandages, and syringes in the Upazila Health
Complex," he said.
In Rule 71, the ruling party MP from Gaibandha-4 constituency Mohammad Shamim
Kaiser drew the attention of the Health and Family Welfare Minister to the
'upgrading of Gobindaganj Upazila Hospital in Gaibandha district to 100
beds'.
Later, the Health Minister responded.
He said that the looting took place in the health sector during the previous
fascist government.
"The kind of mismanagement that has taken place, no developmental work has
been done in the ongoing projects anywhere. The 250-bed hospitals under
construction, according to their engineer's plan, have bathrooms on the side
where the entrance is. Where people will not be able to enter due to the
smell of dirt. The construction of the infrastructure of the hospitals was
started with a bad plan to make money in a hurry. There was looting," he
added.
The Health Minister said that the government does not have any fund to go to
developmental work in the health sector.
"There is not enough money to buy gauzes, bandages, syringes in the Upazila
Health Complex. Everything has been exhausted. Even what was there during the
previous government has been exhausted. I have discussed this situation of
the country with the Prime Minister two or three times."
After the next budget, the Minister said that the government will do whatever
is necessary to provide health services to the people in all upazilas from
limited resources in stages.
