Jamaat candidate pledges corruption-free administration in Joypurhat-2

JOYPURHAT, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate for the Joypurhat-2 constituency in the 13th national election SM Rashedul Alam has pledged to establish a corruption-free and people-friendly administration if elected, stressing transparency, accountability, and public service as his key priorities.

 In an interview with Joypurhat district correspondent of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Rashedul Alam Masud Rana expressed optimism about the overall development of the district and shared his views on key election-related issues.

BSS: What are your election promises for the voters of your area?

Rashedul Alam: I would focus on creating employment opportunities for youth by providing moral and skills-based training.

We will take steps to safeguard women’s rights, ensure security and religious freedom for people of all faiths, and promote social harmony.

 In addition, I will establish agriculture-based industries and develop local tourist attractions to boost the regional economy.

BSS: What are your instructions to leaders and activists to follow the election code of conduct?

I and my party are strictly committed to following all election rules and regulations. Party leaders and activists are asked to remain vigilant to prevent any violations.

BSS: What is your position on the referendum on the July Charter?

I support “yes” vote, stressing the need to prevent the return of fascism or dictatorship in the country as the referendum is essential for building a discrimination-free Bangladesh.

BSS: What are your expectations for the upcoming national elections?

I hope for a fair, transparent, and festive election atmosphere. I believe this election will be more beautiful than any previous one and will be remembered by people for the next 100 years.

Joypurhat district, located in the northern region of the country, comprises five upazilas and two parliamentary constituencies. Joypurhat Sadar and Panchbibi upazilas form Joypurhat-1 (Constituency-34), while Kalai, Khetlal, and Akkelpur upazilas make up Joypurhat-2 (Constituency-35).

Joypurhat-2 constituency includes 15 unions and 104 polling stations. The total number of voters stands at 351,572, of which 174,177 are male, 177,393 are female, and two are third-gender voters.

Three candidates are contesting in the constituency: BNP’s Abdul Bari, a former secretary and Dhaka DC; Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s SM Rashedul Alam and Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) leader SA Zahid.
