BOGOTÁ, July 10, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Colombian guerrillas injured three people Thursday in a drone attack on an airport near the Venezuelan border, in a region plagued by cocaine-trafficking related violence, the military said.
The armed forces blamed the Tibu Airport attack on the National Liberation Army, the country's largest active guerrilla group.
"Three workers presented injuries caused by the blast," the military wrote on X.
The airport was damaged in the attack.
Armed groups in Colombia have stepped up their use of attack drones against the security forces and, in some cases, civilian targets.
The ELN is the oldest surviving guerrilla group in the Americas.
It funds its activities through drug trafficking, extortion and other illegal activities.
Hard-right president-elect Abelardo de la Espriella has vowed to break off peace talks with armed groups and crush them militarily when he takes office on August 7.
