NEW YORK, Jan 6, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - The Dow surged to a new record Monday in the first session of 2026, led by Chevron, an expected beneficiary of the US-engineered shakeup in Venezuela.

All three major Wall Street indices ended higher, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average finishing up 1.2 percent at 48,977.18.
