DAKAR, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Canadian giant Barrick announced Monday it had reached an agreement with Mali's government, ending their dispute over one of the world's largest gold deposits which a Bamako court had placed under temporary administration earlier this year.

"Operational control over the complex will be handed back to Barrick," the Toronto-based company said in a statement, adding that "all charges brought against Barrick, its affiliates and employees will be dropped".

Malian authorities did not immediately react to the announcement concerning the Loulo-Gounkoto complex.
