COTONOU, Benin, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Benin's electoral commission (Cena) announced on Thursday it had rejected the candidacy of Renaud Agbodjo, the representative of the main opposition Democrats party, for the presidential election in April.

Agbodjo's registration was rejected because he did not have sufficient sponsors, Cena said.

Two candidates have qualified for the election -- current Finance Minister Romuald Wadagni, representing the presidential majority, and the so-called "moderate" opposition candidate, Paul Hounkpe.
