BEIRUT, Lebanon, July 13, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Lebanon's health ministry said an Israeli strike in the south on Saturday killed one person whom Israel described as a Hezbollah militant.

The attack was the latest despite a November ceasefire that sought to end more than a year of conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed militant group.

The ministry said the Israeli strike hit a house in the village of Wata al-Khiam.

The Israeli military said it "struck and eliminated a terrorist in Hezbollah's anti-tank unit in the area of Khiam".

Israel has repeatedly bombed Lebanon despite the ceasefire.

Under the agreement, Hezbollah was to pull its fighters back north of the Litani River, around 30 kilometres (20 miles) from the border.

Israel was required to withdraw all of its troops from Lebanon but has kept them in five locations it deems strategic.

On Friday, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said that while he was open to peaceful relations with Israel, normalisation of ties was "not currently part of Lebanese foreign policy".
