72nd birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal observed in Chattogram

  CHATTOGRAM, Aug 5, 2021 (BSS) - The 72nd birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was observed in the city as elsewhere in the district through various programmes amid following the guidelines of coronavirus.

  Awami League, its associate bodies and different political, socio-cultural and sports organisations drew up elaborate programmes marking the day.

   The programmes included day-long recitation from the Holy Quran, discussion on the life and works of Sheikh Kamal at 11am and doa mahfil at city AL office at Darul Fazal Market today maintaining social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.

  City AL leaders in presence of huge number of leaders and workers hoisted party flags atop the city AL office at Darul Fazal Market this morning.

  Meanwhile, Chattogram city AL organised a discussion and Doa Mahfil at the city AL office at Darul Fazal Market on the occasion.

  Acting President of Chattogram city Awami League Mahatab Uddin Chowdhury presided over the function while AL leaders Noyeem Uddin Chowdhury, Advocate Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury Babul, Badiul Alam and Advocate Iftakher Saimul Chowdhury, among others, addressed it.

  Chattogram District Administration paid homage on the memory of Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

   Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman placed a wreath at the temporary memorial portrait of martyred Captain Sheikh Kamal around 9am.

  Superintendent of District Police SM Rashidul Haque and senior officials of the district administration were present at the time.

  In observance of the day, Chattogram south district AL placed wreaths at the portrait of Sheikh Kamal at its Andarkilla party office this noon.

  Besides, Chattogram north district AL also organised separate discussion meetings at Doost building premises marking the day.
