SSJ holds district conference in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Nov 24, 2022 (BSS) - The Rangpur district conference of 'Sommilito Sangskritik Jyote (SSJ)' was held with the slogan 'Bangladesh with the power of culture' in the city this afternoon.
 
Rangpur unit of SSJ chalked out colourful programs including bringing out of rally participated by cultural activists of 71 cultural organizations, placing wreaths to the Central Shaheed Minar, discussion and cultural function.
 
Heroic freedom fighter Tofazzal Hossain inaugurated the conference by hoisting the national flag amid rendering of the national anthem on the Public Library premises in the city.

Later, tributes were paid at the Central Shaheed Minar and prayers offered for peace of the souls of martyrs of the Language Movement, Great War of Liberation, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members who were assassinated on August 15, in 1975.
 
The formal proceedings followed by a discussion session of the conference started in the Public Library hall room with recitation from the Holy Quran and Holy Gita.
 
Central Committee Member of SSJ and Convener of the Conference Preparation Committee Biplob Prasad presided over the discussion.
 
Former Regional Director of Rangpur Kendra of Bangladesh Betar Monwara Begum, former District Cultural Officer SM Abdur Rahim and former Principal of Mithapukur College Nazrul Islam Chand addressed the discussion.
 
General Secretary of 'Shikha Sangsad' Abdul Malek, vocalist Swapan Paul, President of Rangpur unit of Jatiya Kabita Parishad Rangpur Brajgopal, 'Abhijatrik' President Rana Masud, General Secretary of Rangpur unit of Lalon Academy Shahidul Islam Hira, playwright Mustafa Zaman Biman, district Awami League Organizing Secretary Abu Talha Biplab, its cultural affairs Secretary Advocate Atiqul Islam Kallol, leaders of 'Giti Kabi Sangsad' Sunil Sarkar, Dr. Samarpita Ghosh Tanya, Regina Safrin, 'Mouchak' Editor Rezaul Karim Jiban and representatives of other organizations spoke.
 
In the second session of the conference, a 31-member executive committee of the Rangpur unit of SSJ was formed with Biplob Prasad as its President and Majidur Rahman Jhantu as General Secretary.
 
Later, artistes performed country songs, 'Jagoroni Gan' and 'Gnono Sangeet' in the cultural function in the evening.
 
Finally, the newly formed executive committee members with general members of SSJ paid their respects at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the city.
