CHATTOGRAM, August 4, 2021 (BSS- Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has launched a 30-day special crash programme to eradicate the breeding of mosquitoes for protecting the city people from dengue and chikungunya.

Under the programme, 166 workers of four wards are spraying mosquito larvae destroying pesticides every day to save the city dwellers from all types of mosquito borne diseases.

CCC Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury inaugurated the mosquito-eradication programme in Biplob Udyan area in the city this morning.

He said a survey team of Chattogram University (CU) has detected Aedes mosquito larvae at 15 spots of the port city after examining samples collected from 99 localities and suggested spraying mosquito repellent medicines to eradicate Aedes.

“We’ve also examined the effectiveness of different medicines on the aedes mosquitoes. In our report, we’ll provide an overall strategy on how to make anti-mosquito drives more effective,” he added.

“After receiving the survey report on Tuesday, CCC takes all-out mosquito eradication drives on the basis of it,” the mayor continued.

He also called upon city dwellers to be aware against the breeding of mosquitoes in their residences, business centers and other places.

Meanwhile, district Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said six confirmed dengue cases were found in the city so far this year and two of them died.
