CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Aug 4, 2021 (BSS)- Two more persons died of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours till this morning, raising the total number of deaths to 142 in the district.

    The new fatalities have been reported from Chapainawabganj sadar upazila.

    The total deaths included 96 persons of Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila, 28 of Shibganj upazila, 10 of Gomostapur upazila, six of Nachole upazila and two of Bholahat upazila in the district.

    On the other hand, the number of Covid-19 cases climbed to 5,044 as 32 more people were detected positive after testing 165 samples in the district during the time, while the infection rate is 19.39 percent, Civil Surgeon Office sources confirmed.

    Among the newly detected patients, 26 are from Sadar upazila, two from Shibganj upazila and four others from Gomostapur upazila.

    Of the total detected patients of the district, 2,831 are from Sadar upazila, 871 from Shibganj upazila, 670 from Gomostapur upazila, 376 from Nachole upazila and 340 from Bholahat upazila.

    At present, there are 402 Covid-infected patients in the district and of them, 68 are undergoing treatment in dedicated Covid hospital and others at home.

    Meanwhile, 4,544 patients have recovered from the disease here, the sources added.
