Rangpur division records 38.49pc Covid-19 positivity rate

 
   RANGPUR, Aug 2, 2021 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 38.49 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 107 fresh cases were reported after testing 278 newly collected samples of all eight districts in the division today.
 
   "The Covid-19 positivity rate is showing a rising trend after remaining mostly steady below the 30 percent mark in recent weeks," Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui said.
 
   Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 29.75 percent on Sunday, 30.31 percent on Saturday, 26.36 percent on Friday, 26.87 percent on Thursday, 28.63 percent on Wednesday and 28.02 percent on Tuesday last in the division.
 
   Among the 107 new patients, 47 were reported positive after diagnosing 90 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 52.22 percent today.
 
   "The 47 new patients include 12 from Rangpur, 14 from Kurigram, 12 from Gaibandha and nine from Lalmonirhat districts," Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS tonight.
 
   On the other hand, 60 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 31.91 percent today.
 
   "The 60 new Covid-19 infected patients include 53 from Dinajpur, two from Thakurgaon, four from Nilphamari and one from Panchagarh districts," Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain said.
 
   Talking to BSS tonight, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 45,534 as 107 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
 
   "The district-wise break up of 45,534 infected patients stands at 10,127 in Rangpur, 2,805 in Panchagarh, 3,682 in Nilphamari, 2,287 in Lalmonirhat, 3,655 in Kurigram, 6,208 in Thakurgaon, 12,933 in Dinajpur and 3,907 in Gaibandha of the division," he said.
