NARAIL, Oct 17, 2022 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) backed candidate Advocate Subhash Chandra Bose was unofficially elected chairman in Narail Zila Parishad polls today.

He has obtained 260 votes while his nearest rival independent candidate Syed Faizul Amir Litu secured 178 votes.

Besides, another independent candidate Sultan Mahmud Biplob has bagged 113 votes.

Returning Officer, also deputy commissioner (DC) Mohammad Habibur Rahman, announced the result at his office this afternoon.

Earlier, election was held at four centers in three upazila headquarters from 9.00 am to 2.00pm peacefully amid tight security.

A total of 551 votes have been casted through EVM out of 552 votes, he said.

A total of 12 candidates were vying for three general member posts and seven women candidates were vying for the two women reserved seat posts.
