Two held with 22.50 litres wine in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Aug 2, 2021 (BSS) – Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in two separate raids arrested two presumed drug traders and seized 22.50 litres of locally produced fermented wine from different places in the district on Sunday afternoon.
 
The arrested were identified as Md Ashraful Mian, 30, and Md Mantu Mian, 42, of different areas in Rangpur district.
 
 “An operational team of the RAB-13 conducted two separate raids in Mithapukur and Pirganj upazilas, seized the wine and arrested the drug traders,” said a press release issued by the Media Officer of RAB-13 Flight Lieutenant Mahmud Bashir Ahmed today.
 
The elite force seized the huge quantity of locally produced wine and arrested the drug traders from Bhaktipur Bazar in Mithapukur upazila and Shahpur Hajipara village in Pirganj upazila of the district.
 
 During primary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted their involvement in drug trading for a long time in connivance with their other associates.
 
After filing two separate cases in these connections, the elite force handed over them to Mithapukur and Pirganj Police Stations.
 
“Investigation continues to nab other cohorts of the arrested drug traders,” the release added.
